Oh my how I love this post! I didn't know anything about OW's mother. What a trove you've offered. And now I want to rewatch the Stephen Frye film... Thanks, Shocky.
There is so much more Ronna! I really only scratched the surface in this post. Truly a gobsmackingly fascinating family. I would recommend a second watch of that movie. I'm certainly going to. Better make sure you have a box of tissues handy though. I feel the public treated him very unfairly at the end.
Thank you! There is so much more fascinating stuff on his dad, mum, sister, half sisters, brother, Alfred Douglas and his horrible father - the Marquis of Queensbury (who sounded like a right thug). It was pure torture trying to keep the word count down! What a family!
Thank you--I learned so much about Wilde, and his mother Jane sounds like quite a character, muse, fashion inspiration, and source of grief.
Honestly I kept wanting to write about Jane. She was formidable

Another perfect piece of prose and poetry. Love being in your ‘ corner’
There’s always a welcome on the mat of my corner!
I remember reading a lengthy bio of Wilde. But this brought out so much I did not know! Thank you on this Sunday morning--

I do remember feeling SUCH anger, reading about Douglas in that bio....
